Hiking Pilgrimages:
Physicality and Accessibility

Both “Mileage/Steps” and “Maps” of walking done each day is noted in the Daily Itinerary.

This is calculated based on the distance of walking from the Starting Point to End Point, of each day. Our Tours make up the minimum mileage required in order to obtain your “Camino” (Certificate) in Santiago de Compostela upon completion.

Walking is spread out throughout the day – and broken up by Mass daily, Lunches daily, and three (3) Check-Points daily. See below for more information about the Check Points.

Beyond the distances of walking, and the locations of the Day Tours, pilgrims with mobility limitations must consider the accessibility and requirements of this pilgrimage. The following provides as many details possible.

MOBILITY ASSISTANCE:

WALKING STICKS:

Collapsible Hiking/Walking Sticks are permitted – and you can choose to bring one (1) or two (2). They are optional – and can be easily purchased both online and in Sporting Good Stores.

You can choose to purchase walking sticks when you arrive in Spain as well.

WALKERS, SCOOTERS, and WHEELCHAIRS:

Unfortunately, due to the make-up and layout of this Pilgrimage (Terrain, Distance, Weather Conditions etc), if you require any of these – this Pilgrimage is not feasible, as they are not equipped to handle the terrain.

SPECIAL REQUESTS:

WHEELCHAIR ASSISTANCE AT THE AIRPORT:

You can request this on Page 3 of the Registration Process.
*Options: Baggage Check to your Gate, to your Seat, or Gate to Gate (if connecting).

HOTELS:

We can arrange for you to stay in a Handicap Accessible Room where available. In the event they are not available, we can request a room on the Main Floor or near an Elevator. Note on Page 4 under “Special Notes”.

PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFERS: (at clients expense)

Instead of joining the Group Transfers, we can arrange for a Private Transfer to/from the Airport.
*A Driver will meet you in the Arrival’s Hall or Hotel, with a 206 Tours sign, and transfer you accordingly.

CPAP MACHINES and/or OXYGEN TANKS:

If you are bringing either of these – you must review your Flight Itinerary and contact the Airlines directly. Their Medical Equipment Department needs to know all devices that are being brough on their plane – and so they require you to advise them of the Devices, and their Make, Model, Size, Weight etc.
