About the Istituto Beata Angelina:

Istituto Beata Angelina is one of the best located venues in central Assisi. Directly opposite from the Saint Francis of Assisi Basilica, the views are breathtaking. A typical Umbrian house with clean and spacious rooms.

This venue is directly opposite from the World Heritage listed Basilica di San Francesco d’Assisi. It was built after his canonization in 1228, and completed in 1253. The lower church hosts frescoes by renowned late-medieval artists Cimabue and Giotto. In the upper church there are frescoes of scenes in the life of Saint Francis previously ascribed to Giotto and now thought to be by artists of the circle of Pietro Cavallini of Rome. The Basilica was restored after being badly damaged in 1997 when an earthquake hit the town.
