Lourdes is located in the picturesque Pyrenees Mountains in southwestern France. In 1858 St. Bernadette witnessed eighteen apparitions of Our Lady at the Mazzabielle Grotto in Lourdes, who revealed herself as the “Immaculate Conception”. In one of these miracles, Our Lady asked Bernadette to drink from the spring as an act of penance which resulted in the spring’s muddy water turning clear. Since then, Pilgrims have been visiting the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes seeking healing and conversion from the Lourdes baths. Almost every part of the Shrine is accessible by wheelchair. Lourdes is a special place of grace and peace visited by millions each year where Pilgrims attend Mass, go to Confession, and Pray the Rosary in nightly candlelight processions.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Saturday, July 19: Newark to France

Depart Newark for your overnight flight to France. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.

Day 2 | Sunday, July 20: Arrive Lourdes

Upon arriving at Pau or Toulouse airport, make your way to the baggage claim area and collect your luggage. Proceed to the arrival’s hall, where you will be greeted by your tour guide and/or driver. Embark on scenic drive to Lourdes. Check-in to your hotel and relax or explore before dinner. Following dinner, you will have free time to pray the Rosary or attend the candlelight procession. These processions are lit by candlelight and guided by the Most Holy Rosary. Following this prayerful experience, you will return to your hotel for an overnight.

Days 3 - 7 | Monday - Friday, July 21 - 25: Lourdes

This pilgrimage was designed for those who would like to spend more time in Lourdes, to pray and reflect. The first few days will include sightseeing of Lourdes with your group, spiritual director and tour guide. The last days will be dedicated to private time for your own personal reflection and prayer. During your time in Lourdes you will have time to pray with your fellow pilgrims from around the world. During your trip you will have an opportunity to: Attend Mass at the Grotto, watch a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. See the Boly Mill where St. Bernadette was born, and the “Cachot,” an abandoned prison where Bernadette’s impoverished family lived. Join your prayers with those of pilgrims from around the world as you pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous spring or submerge yourself in the healing baths. Experience Christ’s love as you walk the life-sized Stations of the Cross overlooking the holy Grotto. Kneel in the chapel built on the very rock of the Grotto, in obedience to the request of the “Immaculate Conception.” Evenings are free for the optional Blessed Sacrament Procession before dinner. Your role in the universal church will have new meaning as you join the candlelight procession and group rosary. On one of the free days you may want to take advantage of some of the optional tours (Biarritz, Val D’Aran or Betherram) available through our local agent at a minimal additional cost.

Day 8 | Saturday, July 26: Paris

Today, you will enjoy breakfast before departing for Pau or Lourdes airport for your short flight to Paris. Upon arrival in Paris, depart for the most famous churches in the world, the spectacular Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris. Construction began on the cathedral in 1163, and it was completed in 1345 and awarded minor basilica status in 1805. It is famous for its relics of the Crown of Thorns and True Cross, its tradition of Lent Sermons, its Rose Windows and as the setting of Victor Hugo’s famous novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. After being severely damaged in a fire in 2019, the Cathedral was restored and reopened in 2024. Enjoy lunch nearby before heading to St. Vincent de Paul Church and the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal where you will celebrate Mass. The Blessed Mother appeared to St. Catherine on July 18, 1830, telling her, “My child, the good God wished to charge you with a mission… Have a medal struck after this model. All who wear it will receive great graces… Graces will abound for those who wear it with confidence.” The devotion to the Miraculous Medal spread rapidly and is still strong today. Make our way to the Hotel for check-in, enjoy time to relax, and then have a delicious dinner at the Hotel. This will be followed by some free time in the evening and then overnight.

Day 9 | Sunday, July 27: Paris – Newark

Following breakfast, transfer to Paris airport for your return flight to Newark.
