Medjugorje

Medjugorje has blossomed into a haven of peace and prayer, attracting over 40 million pilgrims to its now-celebrated pilgrimage site. In 2018, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Henryk Hoser as the “Apostolic Visitor” to Medjugorje, marking a significant step towards the official recognition of Medjugorje as a sacred Catholic site. On May 13, 2019, the Holy See made a historic announcement, authorizing dioceses and parishes worldwide to organize pilgrimages to Medjugorje. This momentous decree has further solidified Medjugorje’s position as a beacon of spiritual solace and a destination for countless individuals seeking spiritual renewal and a deeper connection with their faith.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Saturday, April 26: Depart the US

Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight. Meals will be served on an overnight flight.

Day 2 | Sunday, April 27: Arrive Medjugorje

Upon arrival into Split, Sarajevo, or Dubrovnik airport the group will be greeted by our driver and proceed on to drive 2.5 hours in our private, comfortable bus to the village of Medjugorje. Once there we will be introduced to the Dragicevic Family, our hosts, in whose comfortable, yet modest inn we will be staying for the next seven nights. Enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the evening.

Days 3 - 9 | Monday - Sunday, April 28 - May 4: Medjugorje

Experience the beauty and peace of this simple village. During your stay in Medjugorje you will have the opportunity to share faith with pilgrims from all over the world. Our local guide will accompany us throughout your stay.

Attend Daily Mass: Each morning, at 10:00 A.M, your group will assemble at St. James Church for Mass (English-Speaking). At the end of each Mass, regardless of language, there is a blessing of the religious articles that you have with you.

Apparitions: Each evening at 5 PM your group will join the villagers and fellow pilgrims of Medjugorje in praying the Rosary, as all anxiously await the alleged arrival of Our Lady to the visionaries. Following the apparition, at 5:40 PM feel free to stay at St. James Church and attend the Croatian Mass. Following the Croatian Mass, there is a
Blessing of the Sick.

Climb Apparition Hill: This mountainous hill is where the visionaries had their first encounter with Our Lady. Also, at the base of this hill is a Blue Cross, where Our Lady allegedly appeared to the children while they hid from the communist police in the early days of the alleged apparitions. When climbing, your group is invited to recite the Rosary, pausing five times for each decade of the Rosary. At the top of the hill, you will witness the exact location of the first alleged apparition of Our Lady to the visionaries, and enjoy private time in prayer.

Climb Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain): In 1933, the villagers built a 30′ high cross atop a mountain to commemorate Jesus’ passion and death on the cross. Your group will have the opportunity to climb this mountain and venerate that very cross. When climbing, your group is invited to pray the Stations of the Cross to meditate on Jesus’ suffering Road to Calvary.

Prayer at the Statue of the Risen Christ: The bronze statue of the Risen Christ, is located on the grounds of St. James Church. Many pilgrims sit and pray on the benches surrounding this peaceful statue. This statue miraculously seeps droplets of water at all times of the day out of Christ’s right knee.

Optional Day Trip to Dubrovnik

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Our Lady has always called us to be close to her Son. In response to her call, pilgrims will have the opportunity to adore the Blessed Sacrament at the altar outside of St. James Church. Adoration is on Tuesdays and Saturdays; Veneration of the Cross is on Fridays inside the church. Additionally, there is an Adoration Chapel on the grounds of St. James Church, where Adoration is held in the afternoon hours.

You will be invited to attend inspirational talks by the priests of St. James parish in Medjugorje.

Meetings will be arranged with the visionaries providing availability.

Day 10 | Monday, May 5: Medjugorje - USA

After an early breakfast and heartfelt farewells, we leave by motor coach to the airport for return flights home.

About Medjugorje

Medjugorje, nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is the renowned site of the 1981 Marian Apparitions. On June 24th, 1981, six children witnessed an extraordinary phenomenon – the appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary on what is now known as Apparition Hill. Our Lady, as the apparition was recognized, imparted a message of peace for the world, accompanied by a fervent call to conversion, prayer, and fasting. She appeared to the children with an infant in her arms and confided in them several secrets, some of which continue to unfold over time. Today, some of the children, now adults, continue to witness Our Lady’s apparitions.
