Here we visit one of the most beautiful and most renowned Cathedrals in Italy. Because of its strategic location, it’s Christian history officially started in 1004, but, Orvieto was built over preexisting Etruscan era cave tunnels dating back 2,500 years, which some historians believe Christians used to celebrate Mass when Christianity was forbidden. Continue to Assisi he hometown of St. Francis and St. Clare. Upon arriving check-in to your hotel. Dinner and overnight. Retire to your room for a restful night’s sleep.

After lunch, board the bus, which will take you outside of the walls of Assisi, to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. This Basilica is made up of two structures, both of which you will visit. We will be immersed in the natural landscape characterized by mountain peaks, rivers and streams, enclosed valleys, and ancient villages waiting to be discovered. Continue to Manoppello and visit the Holy Face of Manoppello located at the Basilica del Volto Santo di Manoppello. The image shows a male face with long hair and a beard parted in bands. It is the only case in the world where the image is visible on both sides of the cloth; colors are very light, the eyes are turned upward and the pupils are completely open, even though irregular. Scientific tests, observations under ultraviolet light and under a microscope show no pigments and no paintings on the veil. Return to Assisi for dinner and overnight.
